FrEdWriter is easy to learn.

You must know 4 things to use FrEd:

1.  Keys on the keyboard make letters
on the screen

2.  DELETE key erases mistakes

3.  ARROW keys move the cursor around

4.  The <T>utor tells you more about
FrEd

FrEdWriter Commands look like this:
<T>utor   <P>rint    <L>oad

Type them this way:

1. PRESS the CONTROL (or CTRL) KEY

2. KEEP it down while you STRIKE the
letter inside the < >.

3. Release both keys.

When you are using FrEdWriter,  you can
always type the <T>utor Command to see
a list of other FrEd Commands.

(Notice the <T>utor reminder on the
top line in FrEdWriter)

Documentation on this disk was written
by June Dodge. It is found in four text
files: DOC.A, DOC.B, DOC.C, & DOC.D.

Use FrEdWriter to load, read, & print
them.

To load DOC.A when using FrEdWriter:

1. Type the <N>ew Command (Control-N)
At the prompt at the bottom of the
screen, type 'Y' and press RETURN.

2. Type the <L>oad Command (Control-L)

3. At the prompt at the bottom of the
screen type 'DOC.A' and press
RETURN.

FrEdWriter can speak SPANISH on Apple
IIe Computers. Spanish FrEd displays
real SPANISH on the screen, and prints
SPANISH on many printers.


To use Spanish FrEd, you must replace
the character chip on your Apple IIe
with the Spanish WizChip, which allows
the display of Spanish characters.  The
Spanish WizChip does not interfere with
normal operation of your Apple.


Spanish WizChips, instructions, and a
copy of Spanish FrEd are  $40.00 in
quantities 1-5.  More than 5 are $30.00
each.

FrEdWriter will work on Apple II and
II+ Computers which have 64K of RAM and
a Lower Case Character Chip (Revision 7
and later motherboards).

The WizChip II is a complete, low-cost
lower-case conversion kit for  Apple II
and II+ computers for only $20.00.

CREDITS

Paul Lutus, author of Applewriter,
wrote FreeWriter and contributed it to
free, public use in 1984.

It has been widely distributed by the
International Apple Core Users' Group
and others, and has been used around
the world.

However, it required some sprucing up
to make it acceptable in schools.  For
instance, it needed a self-contained
print module; a friendlier ProDOS
user interface; ProDOS disk utilities;
capabilities for prompted writing; and
other helpful features.

Al Rogers made so many changes and
additions to FreeWriter that it needed
a new name to prevent confusion.

              Therefore,
